Money Market Checking Account

  • Minimum of $2,500 required to open account
  • Average daily balance of $1,000 or more to earn dividends
  • Three free withdrawals per month ($2 fee for withdrawals in excess of 3)
  • No monthly service charge if balance remains above $2,500
  • If balance is below $2,500, a $5 service charge applies
  • Deposits are federally insured to at least $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration
  • Checks available at member’s expense

Regular Savings Account

  • Minimum $25 deposit required to open account
  • Minimum balance of $25 must be maintained at all times
  • Dividends paid quarterly
  • Subject to Regulation D
  • Deposits are federally insured to at least $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration
  • Funds on deposit may be pledged against a Share Secured loan for a reduced interest rate at BVSCU

Christmas Club

  • No minimum opening deposit
  • No minimum balance requirement
  • May be opened at any time
  • Dividends paid at maturity (October 31 of each year)
  • Account funds are transferred to your BVSCU savings account
  • Deposits are federally insured to at least $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration

Traditional IRA

  • Eligible individuals must be under the age of 70 1/2
  • No minimum amount to open account
  • Married couples filing jointly can contribute the maximum amount to separate IRAs, even if one spouse has little or no earned income
  • Deductions are subject to restriction
  • May be tax-deferred
  • Required distribution at age 70 1/2
  • Penalty for premature withdrawal before age 59 1/2
  • Total IRA deposits are federally insured for up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration

Roth IRA

  • Available to individuals of any age who receive earned income, including a non-working spouse (with some restrictions)
  • No minimum amount to open
  • Contributions are not tax-deductible
  • May be tax-free with some restrictions
  • No penalty for withdrawal of principal
  • No mandatory withdrawals at age 70 1/2
  • Total IRA deposits are federally insured for up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration

IRA Term Share Certificate

  • Available as Traditional and Roth IRAs
  • $1,000 minimum to open
  • Mandatory withdrawals at age 70 1/2 without penalty for Traditional IRA Term Share Certificate (does not apply to Roth IRA Term Share Certificate)
  • Withdrawals before maturity subject to penalty*
  • Penalty for premature withdrawal if below age 59 1/2
  • Available for 3–, 6–, 12–, 24–, 36– and 48–month terms
  • Total IRA deposits are federally insured for up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration

*For certificates of one year or less, loss of up to 90 days’ dividends. For certificates greater than one year, loss of up to 180 days’ dividends.

Jumbo IRA Term Share Certificate

  • Available as Traditional and Roth IRA
  • $95,000 minimum to open
  • Mandatory withdrawals at age 70 1/2, without penalty for Jumbo Traditional IRA Term Share Certificate (does not apply to Jumbo Roth IRA Term Share Certificate)
  • Withdrawals before maturity subject to penalty*
  • Penalty for premature withdrawal if below age 59 1/2
  • Available for 3–, 6–, 12–, 24–, 36– and 48–month terms
