“To fully participate in society today, financial literacy is critical.”
– Annamaria Lusardi, Denit Trust Professor of Economic and Accountancy at the George Washington School of Business

80% of teens 13-18 years old think “It’s important to me to have a lot of money in my life.” Yet, fewer than 50% consider themselves knowledgeable about how to budget money (41%), how to pay bills (34%), how credit card interest and fees work (26%), according to a recent survey by Charles Schwab & Co.

Despite the recognition that economic and financial literacy is critical to succeed in modern society, study after study shows that many Americans continue to lack even a basic understanding of economic and financial concepts, and the consequences on Americans’ financial state are dire.

Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union is proud to offer classroom presentations on financial literacy that meet the Texas Essential Knowledge & Skills (TEKS) for students in grades K-12. Our trained staff are ready to help bring financial literacy skills to your classroom using fun and educational activities that will spark their interest in money matters regardless of age.
